Chance of a Lifetime

Yu Xian represented Singapore in “Chance of a lifetime”, an international non-scripted TV series organized by Hollywood’s Variety Magazine, The United Nations Organization (UN) and Hyde Park-Image Nation, hosted by internationally renowned film producer Ashok Amritraj(Ghost Rider, Premonition, Street Fighter). His film “Between X and Y” won the best film and was awarded a special mention by Hollywood’s Variety Magazine during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

BAIT 3D The Movie

BAIT 3D is a 2012 3D-Stereoscopic thriller co-production between Australia and Singapore, starring Sharni Vinson(Step Up 3D), Xavier Samuel(Twilight) and Julian McMahon(Fantastic 4). In BAIT 3D, Yu Xian worked under the stewardship of renowned Australian Director Kimble Rendall, most known for his 2nd Unit Direction for Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. Yu Xian assumed the role as the Chief Data Wrangler in the film.

Ice Cream Man

Officially Selection for Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) 2009 and the 27th Chicago International Children's Film Festival(USA). Inspired by a true story, Ice Cream Man is a heartwarming tale of an ice cream seller and his granddaughter. Cinematography by Tay Yu Xian.

From Death to Life

Commissioned by Breakthrough Missions Drug Rehabilitation Halfway House, From Death to Life tells the story of Peng Guang Rong, a Singaporean ex-drug trafficker caught in possession of 13.8g of heroin, 1.2g away from a death sentence in Singapore. Cinematography by Yu Xian, the film has since gone on to international distribution amongst halfway houses.

China Doll

China Doll is a horror gore film centering on issue of child prostitution in Southeast Asia. Written and directed by Tay Yu Xian. This film is currently in production phase.

Singapore Short Film Awards Promo Video

The Singapore Short Film Awards (SSFA) honours the best of Singapore short films. Commissioned by The Substation, Singapore, Yu Xian co-directed and shot 2 trailers for the opening ceremony.

Inhalare

A collaborative piece with fashion designer Pauline Ning and art director Charles Rezandi. Inhalare was made for the Paris Fashion Film Festival 2011. Project commissioned by Blackmarket. Cinematography by Tay Yu Xian.

The Waiting Room

Screened in the Cannes Festival Short Film Corner 2011. Supported by Media Development Authority Short Film Grant. Cinematography by Tay Yu Xian.

A Hole in the Bed

Nominated Best Cinematography in Singapore Short Film Awards 2010. Official selection for 1st Experimental Film Forum, Substation. A Hole in the Bed by Nelson Yeo offers a whimsical take on unrequited love. Cinematography by Tay Yu Xian.

Housing Memories: Eclipse of a Hainan Tribe

Housing Memories: Eclipse of a Hainan Tribe is a documentary film on the endangered Li tribe in China, many of whom still sport tattoos on their faces. The film was screened to an international audience in Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Japan, and premiered in key venues such as the Asian Civilization Museum and the Central Public Library, Singapore. Written and directed by Tay Yu Xian.
